By collecting of data on smart phones, consumers and lawmakers are scrutinizing Google and Apple Inc. With their agreements of  listening to the privacy of consumer on mobile devices, these two componies will show proof at a May 10 Senate.

Journal 15 Analyzing an argument

Author, Robert J. Samuelson (1996, April 8). Why men need family values. Newsweek, 43.

The thesis of this article is single parenthood hurts more than women and children. It also makes men poorer and less happy. The claim that the author uses is value. The argument is appealing to trust and values(ethos). The premises are that the author mentioned David Popenoe who is a sociologist in Rutgers University, and the author use Popenoe's argues to convince readers and get readers trust. The author uses his own experiment to prove that fatherhood is a powerful antidote to self-centeredness. In my opinion, the logic of this argument is sound, and there are no fallacies, because the author uses his own life experiments to prove his opinions which is more convincing.

An Optimal air conditioning equipment is going to instead of the classic air conditioning equipment, and this new tecnology ahs three main benifits: to minimize energy, greenhouse gas emissions, and consumer cost in the us. This example proves that optimal design which is also called experimental design is so important because of its benefits of saving energy, money, and time. In addition, the experimental design is needed not only in industry and engineering but also in our daily life.

Journal 13: The topic of my reseach paper

I have a course called "introduction of optimal design" in this semester, and I"m considering why the optimum design is so important and neccessary in engineering technology.  Therefore, I searched information about " optimal design" on wikipedia, and I found optimal design is a class of experimental design, and the design of experiments is very important and neccessary in engineering technology. Finally, I made a decision on my research question- Why is the design of experiments important in engineering technology?

Journal 12: Spring Break

Spring break is over. During this spring break, I just stayed at home and had a great rest. I did not want to anywhere outside, because I have just finished two Mid-term exam which was brothing me almost 3weeks before spring break. I was really tired, and only wanted to take a great use of this whole week to relax. Actually, a good rest can make me feel more energetic, and make full preperation for the study after spring break.

Journal 11: What if animals can speak to us?

When I saw this topic, the first thing came to my mind was the earthquakes happened all over the world in recent years. The reason why earthquakes came to my mind immediately is that there is a well-known saying which is animals can  predict earthquake.

There are many reports show that animals appear unusual behaviors before earthquake, for example, Catfish moving violently, chickens stop laying eggs, and bees leaving their hive in a panic and so on. These phenomenons prove that animal can feel the unusual situations before earthquake and react.

Therefore, if animal can talk, people can be well prepared before earthquake. If so, there will not be so many people died in earthquake, and families could not be seperated by death. Although we cannot avoid natural disaster, we can minimize the loss by predicting disaster.

Friends

Friends play a really important role in our life, and everyone needs friends no matter who you are. Homwever, what kind of friends we need is a really controversial problem nowadays. Some people think the friend who is congenial with ourselves is the most suitable friend. However, others think a friend should be complementary with us. Actually, in my life cycle, I have two kinds of friends, one is those who are similar with me, and another is who are quite different from me.

The friends who are similar with me are controversial with me. We have similar interests, habits, life style, and even similar opnion to most things. We usually get togethor harmoniously, because we have same thoughts on almost everything. Actually, this reasult also makes us feel bored some times. Can you imagine the feeling of no any differences with all people around you? Therefore, I also make friends with those who are different from me.

Conversely, with the friends who are different from, I feel quite defferent from with the friends who are similar with me. Although we also argue with each other, we can actually learn many things from each other at the same time. We always exchange our opinions and argue with each other. Moreover, we can learn how to get on well with people who dislike you in this way.

Finally, for me, "birds of a feather flock together" is an unnecessary and sufficient condition in the aspect of making friends. Different life expirences, interests, and opposite opnion on issues can also make benefits to our friendship. There is no gap between people if you open your heart to accept differences.

No car means no freedom here?

To tell you the truth, since I came here, the only thing that most puzzled me was the terrible traffic in US.

The public transportation in US which I usually use five months ago was bus, but there was only once per hour or half hour. If I miss one bus, it means I have to wait at least half an hour! What does half an hour late for me? It means I missed almost half of class! Therefore, I moved to an apartment which is near the school last month. Now I walk to school everyday, it's very near and convenient. My life is like a single line which is from school to the apartment. It's really boring! Then, I realize no car means no freedom in America.

In US, almost every family has one car at least, and no one can live without car! No matter go to school, go to work, or even go to market, car is the first choice for everyone. This is the main reason why traffic is so terrible in America. Can you imagine that there is a really long car line which has no end in frond of you every time when you are on you way home and to work? Therefore, I realize having a car does not mean having the freedom in America.

peaceful and beautiful

There is a kind of voice which can let you feel no longer lonely, no longer cold, and no longer fretful called Amy Diamond. Amy's pure voice can warm the heart of everybody no matter who you are, and touch the deepest part of heart. 'Hearbeats' is one of her famous songs which is also my favourite song. Amy's peaceful voice transmits a gentle sadness and a silent love vividly. Every time when I hear it, I always can calm down and feel peaceful.

to be a sunshine girl

Many people in California are saying the weather here is so boring, because you can't see any other seasons except sunshine. Everyday you wake up and open the window you can always see sunshine outside. For this reason, many people think a little rainy, snowy, or foggy could be better. For me, In opposite, I would like to choose sunshine.

I'm such a person whose mood can be extremely influenced by the weather. I always feel happy and relaxed even though I suffer bad things when the weather is pretty nice. However, if it's cold, cloudy, and no sunshine at all, I must feel very down and no energy. Obviously, the weather in California fits me a lot, sunshine makes me energetic, hopeful, and happy.

In addition, sunshine is also good for our health. Many experts are saying temperate sun exposure in daily life is necessary. Is there something more important than one's health? Of course no. Therefore, please enjoy the sunshine in California and make it become a part of your wonderful life.

overcome my fear

Actually, there are many things I'm scared of, but the most thing scared me recently is the hot oil splashing down on my hands when I'm cooking. I thought the hot oil might hurt my hands and even destroy my hands, so I always try to pretect my hands carefully from the hot oil, like wearing a pair of plastic gloves when cooking.

Because of this kind of fear, my roommate always laugh at me for my scare of spalshing hot oil, so I feel a little upset and I've been trying to overcome my fear for a long time. On the first day, I cooked without my plastic gloves, and standed far away from the pan when I was cooking. However, the hot oil spalshed all around the pan, and I was standing away from the pan until the food was scorched. The second time, I tried to use a long handle cook shovel and it worked pretty well. However, a little hot oil still splashed down on my hands, and it's actually not hurt like I thought at all! Now I can cook without fear and my lovely plastic gloves!

some wills in new year

Time really flies! New year is all over for a month! As usual, everybody gonna make plans for new year, including me! OK~ To tell you the truth, this year is gonna be a very struggling year for me. Two university classes for master degree and 550 points on PBT, can you imagine that? Thus, my new year resolution is to focus on my study!

What I'm gonna do for that? The first goal I made for myself is to attend every class, whatever and whenever the class is! As my lovely classmates, you guys also have responsibility to supervise me! haha~ Actually, you guys are all pretty hard-working, it really motivates me to work hard on study! I should thank all of you, really! (*^__^*) The second goal is to hand in every assignment on time!

Hi~ My name is yitong, you can also call me Angela which is my nick name. I'm very glad to see everyone here in America! In order to make friends with you guys soon, let me introduce something about me first.

As all my friends known, I'm an easy-going girl. I have been in America for almost half a year, and I also have been studying in ALP for half a year. I made a lot of friends from different courty during the last half year, and I also went to many interesting palces with my friends, like downtown Los Angeles, Las vegas, and Disneyland. I really like travel!

I'm also a hard-working and smart girl. Haha~ My major is Mechanical Engineering, and I'm really into Maths. What's more, I'm the only female student in my engineering design class for master degree.
